Car Insurance Mazda (Car Insurance). (10 pts) does a GIAC chip for my audi a4 help with turbo lag and low end torque?

(10 pts) does a GIAC chip for my audi a4 help with turbo lag and low end torque? So does it? 10 pts best answer

Doubtful. Usually these chips increase peak boost and potentially adjust the a/f mapping, so it will probably make the boost lag worse but potentially give you more power down low (if the mapping increases fuel delivery down low). Will it provide low end torque if done that way? Only on cars with mid displacement (2.0-2.4+) so if you have a 1.8t (which is possible) probably not. Hank is right, and also the 1.8 turbo has little if any lag. How is the clutch on your car? Also, the 1.8 turbo engine is not designed for low-end torque either. A chip will not do any of the sort.

2011 Kia Sportage or 2011 Nissan Rogue? I will be purchasing a vehicle soon, and I am not sure which one is better. I live in the northeast so AWD is a must for the winter. I like the looks of the Kia better, and the Nissan name better. They both get good gas mileage for an SUV-Crossover in my opinion. Have you had any experiences with one or both? Mazda . How to Replace a Timing Belt in a Jetta 1.8T

The 1990 through 1994 Jetta 1.8-liter and 2.0 16V engines are interference engines, which means that should the timing belt stretch past the scope of the tensioner, the valves will most likely hit the pistons and cause extensive engine damage. Both engines use the same process to replace the timing belt. Volkswagen has not recommended a specific interval to replace the timing belt, however, previous use and service history dictates that the timing belt should be changed before it stretches too far. It has been determined that 60,000 miles is the most the timing belt can go before stretching too far.
Difficulty:Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Set of wrenches
Set of sockets
Tension gauge No. 210
2-pin wrench No. 159
Torque wrench

Step by Step :
1
Disconnect the negative battery cable and lay it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Loosen the tensioners on the accessory drive belts. If the tensioner is a slider, loosen the lock bolts, then the slider bolts and slide the accessory toward the engine. If the tensioner has a pulley, use a wrench or socket to rotate the pulley away from the belt, thus relieving the tension on the belt. Lift the belts off the pulleys.
2
Remove the upper timing belt cover using the appropriate socket. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the timing marks on the AT models are lined up at the 12 o'clock position. For MT models, the timing marks are located on the flywheel. Check the camshaft timing marks. If they are not lined up at the 12 o'clock position, turn the crankshaft one more turn and both timing marks will line up.
3
Remove the crankshaft pulley bolts, the crankshaft pulley and the lower timing belt cover using the appropriate sockets. Loosen the timing belt tensioner pulley nut. Turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise, using the 2-pin wrench, to relieve the tension on the belt. Lift the belt off the sprockets and pulleys. Check that the timing marks are still lined up.
4
Reinstall the lower timing belt cover temporarily. Make sure the timing marks are still lined up (on the crankshaft for AT models; on the flywheel for MT models). Install the timing belt, starting on the crankshaft sprocket. Keeping it taut as you work, route it around the intermediate shaft sprocket and over the top of the camshaft. Route it behind the tensioner. The belt will be loose on the tensioner side.
5
Set the tension gauge to zero, then hook it on the timing belt halfway between the camshaft sprocket and the intermediate shaft sprocket. Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise using the 2-pin wrench until the gauge reads 13 to 14 units.
6
Tighten the tensioner pulley nut to 33 foot-pounds of torque. Remove the tension gauge. Turn the crankshaft clockwise two turns until the timing marks line up again. Recheck the tension in the same spot on the belt, using the tension gauge. Adjust the tension if necessary. Install the rest of the parts in reverse order of removal. Make sure the timing marks on the crankshaft on AT models are lined up. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolts to 15 foot-pounds of torque.

Mazda . How to Replace a 4Runner's Timing Belt

The 1996 through 2000 Toyota 4Runner 3.4L V6 engine is a freewheeling engine, which means that should the timing belt stretch past the scope of the tensioner, extensive engine damage will most likely not occur. Toyota has not recommended a specific interval to replace the timing belt on this model, but previous use and service history dictates that the timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles. It takes just under three hours to replace the timing belt, and the job requires several special tools, all available at any Toyota dealership.
Difficulty:Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Set of wrenches
Set of sockets
Drain pan
Crankshaft pulley holding tool handle No. 09330-00021
Crankshaft pulley holding tool No. 09213-54015
Pulley No. 09950-50010
Press
Allen wrench
Torque wrench

Step by Step :
1
Disconnect the negative battery cable and lay it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Remove the engine splash guard using the appropriate socket. Set the drain pan under the radiator drain plug. Loosen the drain plug and allow the radiator to drain. If the drain pan is clean, you can reuse the antifreeze. Remove the upper radiator hose by loosening the clamp, then pulling the hose off.
2
Loosen the tensioners on the accessory drive belts. If the tensioners are sliders, just loosen the lock bolts and slider bolts, then push the accessory toward the engine. If the tensioner has a pulley, use a socket or wrench to rotate the pulley away from the belt, thus relieving tension on the belt. Lift the belts off the pulleys.
3
Remove the radiator shroud and the cooling fan and its coupling using the appropriate sockets. Unbolt the power steering pump and the air conditioning compressor, but do not remove the hoses. Lay both out of the way in the engine compartment. Remove the air conditioning compressor bracket, dipstick and guide tube, upper timing belt cover and the cooling fan bracket using the appropriate sockets and wrenches.
4
Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt using the crankshaft pulley holding tool and the crankshaft pulley holding tool handle. Remove the crankshaft pulley using the puller. Unbolt and remove the lower timing belt cover using the appropriate socket, then slide the timing belt guide washer off.
5
Reinstall the crankshaft pulley bolt temporarily. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until all the timing marks are lined up. Both camshafts and the crankshaft timing marks line up at the 12 o'clock position. The camshaft timing marks consist of a dot on each camshaft that lines up with a raised notch on the head. The crankshaft has a dot on the sprocket that lines up with a notch on the block.
6
Remove the auto tensioner and the dust boot using the appropriate sockets. It is easier to reach them by rolling under the engine. Lift the timing belt off the sprockets. Rotate the guide and tensioner pulleys. If the pulleys make noise or have any resistance, replace them. Check the auto tensioner for signs of oil leakage. If you see oil leaking, replace the auto tensioner. If you can push the pushrod by hand, replace the auto tensioner. Measure the visible part of the pushrod. If the measurement does not fall between 0.39 and 0.42 inches, replace the pushrod. Check that the timing marks are still lined up.
7
Install the timing belt starting on the right camshaft sprocket (as you are looking down at the engine). Route the timing belt under the guide pulley and over the top of the left camshaft. Grab the other side of the timing belt and route it from the right camshaft sprocket, down behind the water pump pulley, around the crankshaft sprocket, then behind the tensioner pulley. Keep the belt taut on the non-tensioner side. Make sure the arrow marks on the belt point away from the engine.
8
Insert the auto tensioner in a press. Press the pushrod into the auto tensioner body until the hole in the pushrod lines up with the hole in the auto tensioner body. Insert an Allen wrench through the holes to hold the pushrod in place. Install the auto tensioner and the dust boot. Tighten the auto tensioner retaining bolts to 20 foot-pounds of toque. Remove the Allen wrench from the auto tensioner.
9
Turn the crankshaft clockwise two turns (slowly) until the timing marks line up again. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt. Install the rest of the parts in reverse order of removal. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 184 foot-pounds of torque for 1996 through 1998 models and 217 foot-pounds of torque for 1999 through 2000 models. Tighten the radiator drain plug. Refill the radiator.

Troubleshooting \lour Transmission A low transmission fluid level or a malfunctioning, inexpensive gizmo may cause the same symptoms as a faulty transmission. Who knows how many unsuspecting customers have paid big bucks to rebuild or replace transmis sions when they could have corrected the problems themselves with very little money or effort? This section shows you how to troubleshoot your transmission and try the cheapest remedies before paying professionals to do major surgery. If you have to take the problem to a specialist, read the sections in this chapter on dealing with professionals before going to one for a diagnosis. If you're lucky, your transmission may need only a simple adjustment. If you're not so lucky, your transmission may need to be rebuilt or replaced. But in any event, you'll know that you're getting the proper service. Those tou/*tmn$mi$$ion~ftuid blues 790 Car Insurance 1997 nissan 200sx se rcoupe2d 452138

If your automatic transmission seems to be acting up — by hesitating when you change gears, or by shifting with a "clunk" — first check your transmis sion dipstick. Your transmission fluid may be low or dirty, or it may have dried. Chapter 3 tells you how to find and check your transmission dipstick and how to buy the proper kind of transmission fluid for your vehicle. It's a good idea to check this fluid fairly often anyway as part of your regular under-the-hood check. A good many "band jobs" have been bought and paid for when a quart of transmission fluid would have solved the problem for pennies. Before emptying your wallet, check your transmission fluid level and try the following remedies:

' If your fluid level is low, with the emergency brake on and the gearshift in Neutral or Park, use a funnel to add a teeny bit of fluid at a time down the dipstick hole until the fluid level just reaches the "Full" line on the stick. Do not fill beyond the line; driving with too much transmission fluid can damage your transmission. If the level is low again in a couple of days, look under the car for a leak around the transmission; you may need to replace a seal. .Chapter 17: What to Do If Your Transmission Stops Running Smoothly V If your fluid level is fine but your transmission isn't working well — or if your fluid keeps disappearing and no leaks are evident — you probably need transmission work. W If your transmission fluid looks or smells burned or dirty, you may want to consider having the fluid, filter, and pan gasket changed. Transmissions should be serviced every 20,000 to 25,000 miles, but if your vehicle has more than 100,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid has never been changed, don't change it unless there are really serious reasons for doing so. The old transmission fluid has formed a deposit around the front transmission seal. If this fluid is totally replaced with fresh fluid, the

new stuff can dissolve the deposit, and the old seal may start to leak. In this case, I'd add just enough new fluid to bring the level up to the "Full" mark on the dipstick or as close to it as possible. Then, when the poor, neglected beast dies, have the transmission rebuilt (unless the rest of the car is dying, too). This does not mean that you shouldn't have the transmission serviced. Because you'll probably lose only 3 quarts in the process of servicing, replac ing the lost fluid shouldn't disturb the seals. If you have an all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive vehicle, don't forget to check the fluid level in the transfer case, too. The malfunctioning Vacuum modulator caper

Many older vehicles with automatic transmissions have an inexpensive device called a vacuum modulator. When the vacuum modulator goes bad, the car tends to stay in low gear all the time or shift with a bang — especially into lower gears. These little devils can suck up transmission fluid and burn it, causing white or gray smoke to emerge from the tailpipe as you shift gears. If your car has a vacuum modulator and it's easy to reach, it's worth the gamble to replace it before you consider more costly remedies. You usually only have to unscrew the old one to replace it.
